Representations of living with HIV in contemporary South African writings

My project examines how HIV/AIDS, as a socio-cultural as well as medical phenomenon, is being written about in a variety of contemporary South African contexts. Looking in turn at literary culture, online diary-writing/blogging and CMC (text messaging and web forums), I am interested in how these forms of self-representation interconnect and inform one another, along with parallels with the interconnection of bodies made increasingly visible by global(ised) pandemics, public health movements and media.
