We’re delighted that the ERC (European Research Council) has agreed that we can extend the Ego Media Project until 31 October 2019. The extension will give us the time to work with our colleagues at King’s Digital Lab to create an innovative, collaboratively-authored digital publication exploring the project’s findings, methods and conclusions.
We’ll post more on that as we progress. In the meantime, here’s some recent news about project team members:
Clare Brant has been working on a special issue of the European Journal of Life Writing with Rob Gallagher: Digital Media: Life-Changing Online. On 6 April, Clare delivered a keynote at the British Society for Literature & Science 2019 conference on Underwater Lives: Humans, Oceans, Species, and presented on the Ego Media Project during the Digital Humanities Round Table at the same conference.
Robert Gallagher has recently authored 2 articles. One appears in Convergence as part their new special issue on digital subjectivity, and looks at how web users integrate experiences of ASMR into online autobiographical narratives – see https://doi.org/10.1177/1354856518818072. The other is published in Games & Culture and analyses representations of datafication and digital privacy in two science fiction videogames (https://doi.org/10.1177/1555412019841477).
Lisa Gee joined the Ego Media team in October 2018 after completing her PhD in Digital Writing by Practice at Bath Spa University, to help facilitate the production of the digital publication and contribute to dissemination of research
Rachael Kent has successfully completed her PhD and has been appointed Teaching Fellow in Digital Media and Culture the department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries, King’s College London htt
Alison McKinlay and Leone Ridsdale’s paper Views of People With Epilepsy About Web-Based Self-Presentation. A Qualitative Study was published in the Interactive Journal of Medical Research
Rebecca Roach’s book Literature and the Rise of the Interview https://global.oup.com/academic/product/literature-and-the-rise-of-the-interview-9780198825418?lang=en&cc=gb was recently published by Oxford University Press
Last September Max Saunders spoke at Hitotsubashi University in Kunitachi, Japan in a seminar on Post-War Imagination and Narrative of History. His talk: “Post-War Imagination and the Narrative of (Future) History in the To-Day and To-Morrow Book Series” has now been published in Correspondence: Hitotsubashi Journal of Arts and Literature.
