Charlotte Wu has a BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Cambridge and an MPhil in Gender Studies (2012 University of Cambridge, Department of Geography). Her thesis looked at the phenomenon of ‘pro-ana’ online, specifically on Tumblr, and how the ways in which young women who self-identified as eating disordered used language which either echoed or rejected/reconfigured existing discourses e.g. biomedical/pathological, feminist and that of the mainstream media.

My project examines how HIV/AIDS, as a socio-cultural as well as medical phenomenon, is represented in a variety of contemporary South African textual cultures.
